User roles connect users with templates. For example, after creating a User and Service Template for your accounting department, you can then create a role called "Accounting." Whenever you add a user for this department, simply select the "Accounting" role in order to associate the user with the template.
NOTE: For networks that include various product interfaces for managing users and services, the Flow Through Provisioning solution allows the administrator to configure and manage users, phone and MiCollab services from a single location. See Adding Users and Services for more information.
A user role can be associated with only one template; however, a template can be associated with multiple roles.
Users in the same role can have different services - multiple services can be associated with the same user.
In a network of mixed releases, templates and user roles are shared. However, only roles associated with the Default or a pre-Release 7.0 template will be shared with the pre-Release 7.0 systems.
